I get stuck in a severely bad attitude and self loathing at times and find myself in need of someone or something to come and pull my head from my ass with extreme force. I have found one book that has done it for me twice now. Secret of the Ages by Robert Collier. It was written in 1914 I think so the language is old and the meter takes some getting use to as does the many religious references (if you’re not a religious person) but it’s a gold mine for restoring hope.
