Yesterday was AWESOME!  :)   I took the new bike out. Got the breaks to stop squeaking, got a new cushy seat installed.  Loved it!  In the morning I took Ally & Kyle on a ride around the block, then we got some cash and rode to the corner market for an ice cream.  I mapped it when I got back home and realized we’d ridden 3.5 miles.  I was shocked they were able to do the entire thing — they were both pretty beat by the time we got home.

I had Rider Saturday night while Tami worked so he and I rode our bikes over to the corner deli for dinner then decided to go for a ride before we came back for ice cream.  Our little ride ended up bringing us all the way to Ally’s house only to realize they weren’t home (oops, probably should have called first).  It was Rider’s idea and he did GREAT the whole way there.  He was a little pooped (and a lot disappointed that they weren’t home) but he was a trooper and made it all the way back (I think the promises of ice cream were a big help).  We did it — 4.2 miles round trip.  He asked for two scoops of ice cream and said OK (he earned it) and he ate every melted drop of that ice cream.

Today was pretty laid back.  Donuts for me and Rider this morning followed by church.  I needed to go to Walmart and ended up buying Rider the fish he’s been wanting (that his mom said she’d get but hasn’t had time).  He was totally stoked and thinks I’m the coolest thing EVER now.  :)   Tami was going to get him African Dwarf Frogs but I got the $0.28 gold fish.  She can upgrade if she wants.  LOL :)

Then we met Tami for lunch and I came home to start some laundry and clean up the kitchen.  I was going to go for another bike ride but got a frantic call from Tami — she was on her way to work and Brian & Faye had forgotten they were babysitting and were at a friend’s house for a BBQ.  So, I got the honors.  Rider wasn’t up to another ride or a walk so we stayed home and played Uno and Hit the Deck.  Brian picked him up just as the storm was rolling in.

I just finished watching Big Brother.  About five minutes into it I texted a friend “5 minutes into it and I remember why I didn’t like Jessie last season, not looking forward to another season with him.”  He’s the reason they have the saying “all brawn but no brains”.  It’s going to be a LONG season if we have to watch him for too long.

Now I’m watching a new show that I’m kind of digging “Drop Dead Diva”.  We’ll see.  I swore I wasn’t going to get hooked on another show but it looks good.

I’m also staring out the window at the awesome lightning show and listening to the thunder roll.  :)   I LOVE it!

I should get to bed before too late…I’m biking to work tomorrow.  :)   Should be fun.  (Yeah, ask me in the morning how much fun that was — and pray it’s not still raining or that idea won’t work.)

I’ve been wanting a bike for a while now.  It’s gorgeous here, there are a ton of bike paths around here and I’ve been thinking of just riding my bike to work every day instead of driving.  Well, tonight I bought one.   It’s not the fanciest bike, it was cheap, but it works.

Kind of.

Well, the bike works, the rider not so much. I kind of forgot how to ride a bike.  I was nervous.  I need to buy a new seat for it (because this one is rock hard and skinny).  Once I got on it I felt a little nervous but I’ll practice and be as good as I used to be.  :)

I better because I’m determined to ride that thing.

I also bought a bike rack and had to figure that thing out in the parking lot of the store so I could get the bike home.

I think I’ll go for a bike ride tomorrow…right after I get a new seat and figure out how to put it on (or beg my brother to help me).

It was my sister, Teri’s last day here so we had a BBQ.  Around 8:30 I realized that BIG BROTHER was on (yes I DVR’d it).  I almost left then because I was so excited but I decided to stick it out and keep visiting.  I did watch as soon as I got home — it’s really the only show I can’t wait to watch a couple days later. LOL

It was good.  I’ll wait until Sunday to give any opinions on anything.  (Although I don’t usually form strong opinions this early in the show.)

All I can say is:  “Jessie?  Really?  Why!?!?!?”

In 27 hours I’ll be sitting in front of my TV for the start of one of my absolute FAVORITE shows.  No, it’s not highly intellectual.  No, it won’t increase my knowledge of world events.  But, yes, it will entertain me consistently and thoroughly three nights a week for the next 10 weeks.

That’s right, tomorrow night at 8PM EST/PST I will be watching the first episode of.

Five years ago today this little girl came to grace our family with her joy, giggles, and unique personality.

And now look at her all grown up.  :)

Happy Birthday, Allyson!  My fun sleepover guest.  My hiking buddy.  My Applebee’s companion.  My lemonade maker.  My afternoon break friend.

Love you Ally-bug.

(And, yes, I realize she doesn’t look happy in this picture…we were about 1/2 way into our 2 mile, uphill hike and she wanted to quit.  :)   We persevered and she finished the ENTIRE hike that the trooper that she is.  Although, she has informed me that she won’t hike “the mountain” again until she’s 7, or maybe 6.)
