peach dessert

Nevermind, I’ll just tell you.  It’s a piece of Peach Heaven.

I wanted something sweet tonight (I deserved it after slaving in the kitchen baking brownies and chocolate chip muffins for a bake sale then making a salad for a BBQ tomorrow night).  So, I made this creation.  I searched the pantry for ideas and came up with it.

It’s a winner.

Peach Heaven

Saute frozen peaches in 1 tsp butter and 3 tsp brown sugar.

Pour that mixture into a small oven-safe bowl and top with 1 tsp rolled oats and 1 tsp brown sugar.

Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes or whatever.

OMG.  Yummy deliciousness.

I’m going to get some berries and make it with them now. Well, not now, like next time I decide to make this.

It’ s a good thing I took Friday off.  My weekend was so dang busy that I needed Friday to prepare for it.  :)

Rider woke up Saturday morning completely rash free.  :)   Yipee, because I had a lot I wanted to do.  Luckily, he was game for all of it.  First thing in the morning we headed to the Farmers Market.  I got some great vegetables (OMG, I made the most amazing zucchini dish with the zucchini – WOW) and Rider picked out one vegetable for himself — no surprise it was snap peas that he snaps and eats the peas out of.  But, I was so proud of the picky little man — he tried Hummus from a vendor that makes and sells it.  He didn’t like it (which didn’t surprise me) but he TRIED IT!

We decided that we wanted to go to the PowWow instead of watching the parade so that helped us not have too much to do.  After the Farmers Market we headed over to the Donut House for a donut and hot chocolate (only I got an apple fritter and coffee).  As we were enjoying our treat I realized that the were in the parking lot, the roads were being blocked off, and the parade was going to start any minute (of course the people sitting on the sidewalk in front of the donut shop and the police turning cars away helped me realize that fact).  I also realized that it was 11:15 and the parade started at 11:00.  I almost panicked when I realized that the only way were were leaving was if we left right that instant or we’d be stuck until the parade was over.  So, we took off.  I could see the parade CLEARLY in my rearview mirror as we drove down the street with parade goers waving to us from the sidewalk (talk about a close call).

From there we headed to JulyAmsh – the PowWow for the Coeur d’Alene tribe.  It was fun.  Rider was a real trooper (of course the promise of a “real” indian arrow helped).  We watched the horse entrance, the eagle staff ceremony, and the grand entrance before getting too hot and moving indoors.  Inside we watched a bit of the dancing then decided ice cream would make a great lunch.  So we ate our “lunch” (actually Rider ate it I didn’t want any) then got his “real” indian arrow and left.  Here’s a picture Rider took of the Grand Entrance.  :)

Rider Weekend 001

From there we headed to the park by my house where we “enjoyed” the city festival.  I say “enjoyed” because he enjoyed it, I was bored.  In the past they’ve had great food and some fun booths to look at.  This year they had the utility company and Dish network (neither of which I care to talk to) along with not one but TWO chiroprators and not much else.  The food — that left a lot to be desired.  But, the kids area was fun for Rider.  He jumped in the jumphouses, talked with the firemen, and won a goldfish AND African Dwarf Frog.  Unfortuntely the goldfish died shortly after he got home.  But, he’s dealing well with learning about the death of goldfish.

Sunday we went to church and unfortunately I guess we got there a little late because his class was full so he had to go to big church with me.  He was amazing though and got a special treat afterwards.  Of course, his chocolate bar ruined his lunch but dude, he sat through the entire church service and only talked when he wanted to tell me that he liked the song we were singing.  Of course, it probably helped that I let him use my camera to keep him happy.

Here’s some pictures of “big church” from a 5 y/o’s perspective.

Rider Weekend 003

FYI…the picture above is of my friend who preached for the first time yesterday.  Rider took this after I told him which one was Thad.  Guess he thought I’d want it?

It was a fun weekend. :)   But, now it’s back to work.

It’s Friday so that means…

  1. My outdoor plants look a lot better outside.  They really don’t belong inside.  How do I know that?  They are all inside right now.  Now, before you think I’m crazy (which I’m not in this instance) I HAD to bring them inside or risk them getting destroyed.  They decided to powerwash my building today.  I didn’t want to risk my plants getting ruined so I brought them inside.  It’s really not as pretty as it sounds.
  2. I’m home from work with a sick kid.  No, I didn’t acquire a child that I haven’t told anyone about.  I’m here with Rider.  Tami can’t really take time off work at central dispatch (fancy for 911) so I volunteered.  Poor kid has a nasty, red, itchy rash all over his body.  He seems like to like rolling around on the carpet today.  But, I might be able to convince him to take a nap — the benadryl is making him sleepy…
  3. This weekend is Julyamsh AND Hayden Days.  I had planned on taking Rider to both since I’m babysitting all weekend.  I really hope his rash clears up because I don’t want to take him out with it…he LOOKS horrible.
  4. I think I missed cherry and strawberry picking at Green Bluff.  I’m kind of bummed.  That doesn’t mean I haven’t been eating cherries and strawberries.  I just didn’t get to pick them myself.  :)
  5. They just finished powerwashing the front of the building.  I haven’t seen them in the back but I hope they get there…it needs done also.  I put the flowers back out front because they were giving me a headache.
  6. Rider decided to redecorate my front patio. It kind of looks good (I helped with a couple things).  He moved the chairs then I had to adjust some of the flowers to keep some walking room.  I guess it was time for a change.
  7. I think I need to lower my expectations.  I went out front and nit-picked the powerwash job.  There are still cobwebs on the building.  I don’t get it.  I wanted my brother’s company to at least bid the job…they didn’t get the chance.  But, these people did cruddy work.  The walkways don’t look any better.  I kind of stinks that the people who own this property don’t take as much pride in it asI do. Because it looks like crap.
  8. I have to figure out what to eat for lunch.  I had today’s lunch planned but it’s at the office.  I’m not.  So, it’s not going to do me much good.  I found a box of mac & cheese in the back of the pantry that I can serve Rider, for me, I still have to work it out.
  9. I’m feeling kind of tired today. I didn’t sleep well last night because I kept checking on Rider.  I probably didn’t need to worry but I did.  I feel like I didn’t sleep at all but I know I did.
  10. It looks like the weather this weekend will be nice. I really hope the kid is feeling better so we can enjoy it.  It’s not often I have him all weekend.  It’s also not often that I have this much planned on a weekend.  I’d really don’t want to spend the whole weekend inside.

Have a great weekend!  :)

but I am.

WARNING — POSSIBLE BIG BROTHER SPOILER FOLLOWS.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Sorry.

I promised myself I would not start discussing Big Brother on here, but I’m going to.  It’s late, no one that I talk to regularly watches the show (or admits that they watch it) so I have to vent here.

A few of the people in the house I have no opinion on.  Some, I do.

Jeff — I like him.  He seems cool.

Laura — so far I like her OK, sucks to be her right now.  I think she’s smart, I think she’s playing the game but I think she’s not playing too hard.

Jessie — I couldn’t stand him last season and I threw something at the TV when he got back on this season.  I still think he’s dumber than a doornail.

Chima — annoys the crap out of me.  Seriously.  I wanted to scream when she didn’t get the boot last week.

Russell — annoys me almost more than Jessie and Chima combined.  Ronnie is a moron.

Ronnie — I liked him when the season first started.  Now, not so much.  Personally, I think he’s playing too hard, too fast and it’s going to bite him where he got the coins lodged.  I think he made a big mistake this week but I guess only time will tell.

So, we’ll see what happens.  I have my predictions but I could be wrong.  I think Laura is the bigger threat.  I think Ronnie is correct in thinking he needs to get her out.  I also think he would have been smarter to have put Russell up.  But, we’ll see.

Do you remember when Taco bell tacos were $0.29 each? I remember being able to eat at Taco Bell for under $1 (and getting more food than I probably should have eaten) when I was in high school. Heck, I remember days of scrounging for coins and having to forego the soda because all I could find was enough for two tacos (at a whopping $0.64 or something like that with the tax).

Today I went to get two tacos from Taco Bell (because I’d forgotten my lunch in the fridge at home when I left this morning).  I knew I had $2.00 and some change in cash and figured it was fine.   (I figured $0.79 with inflation.)

Dude, Taco Bell tacos are $0.99 EACH now.

EACH.

Two tacos was $2.10 with tax.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not super expensive but still….

I was tripping out big time when I went through the drive-thru.  I know it shouldn’t have tripped me out so much.  I know, inflation, but dang.

Memories… :)   I’m remembering going to Taco Bell after church and buying 25 or 30 tacos for the family and some friends for lunch.  We were only allowed tacos because anything else was more expensive.
