but no crying here.  :)

I hosted a Pampered Chef party tonight.  I was so much fun.  It’s been so long since I’ve been to one and had a great time.  Didn’t have a lot of people show up but the ones that were here were great.  :)

Here’s a picture of what we made (and ate).  YUMMY.  :)

trifle

Doesn’t that look good!?!?  It’s a fruit trifle.  Layered white cake, vanilla pudding/whipped cream mix, pineapple, cake, pudding, strawberries, cake, pudding, blueberries, with whipped cream on top and garnished with pineapple and a strawberry.  It was so yummy. :)

Now, to all my friends who couldn’t make the party, guess what, you can still get something.

MOM — DID YOU HEAR THAT?  YOU CAN STILL GET SOMETHING.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to our had a Pampered Chef party, they are AWESOME.  If you can’t make it to the show (because you live to far away MOM) or because you have other plans you can order online and have it shipped directly to you.  The reason I know this is because 1.  I had to place my order online when I couldn’t make it to the show I was invited to and 2. One of my friends in CA placed an order today that will be shipped directly to her.  How stinking easy is that?

MOM — YOU COULD DO IT YOURSELF…IT’S SO EASY.

All you have to do is go here and click on how to purchase and enter my name.  So easy, and it’ll show up on your doorstep in just a little while.

Before my party I had to eat dinner and I thought it was so pretty that I took a picture of it.

dinner

The picture doesn’t do it justice.  It was pretty and it tasted REALLY good.  I’m sure you’re dieing to know what it is, right. :)   Well, I had leftover chicken from last night.  So, it’s romaine lettuce, with the chicken chopped up, blueberries, and honey mustard dressing.  It tasted Y-U-M-M-Y.

I guess I could tell you how I made the chicken since that was so good.  :)

I dipped chicken tenderloins in a sauce of dijon mustard mixed with honey mustard dressing.

Then I dipped that in almond flour mixed with some rosemary, lemon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Mrs Dash.

Then baked.  It was so good I could have eaten it all.  Last night and today for lunch I had it over cabbage.  Tonight it tasted good with the blueberries and romaine lettuce.

I really like when I get the cooking bug.  :)

Well, it’s late and I need to get some sleep.

Till later…

simplewomansdaybookFOR TODAY MONDAY, JUNE 15TH …

Outside my window… is a beautiful storm with thunder, rain, and the whole bit.

I am thinking… about what I’m doing to do this evening.

I am thankful for… being inside during this storm.

From the kitchen… had a delicious slice of pizza for dinner.

I am wearing… denim knee shorts and a blue shirt

I am creating… a fun, new, personal blog

I am going… no where else today

I am reading… If the Shoe Fits

I am hoping… that people show up for my Pampered Chef party on Wednesday

I am hearing… the rain and thunder

I am praying… for Shirley and family as they transition to life without Frank.

Around the house… needs to be cleaned, I went hiking yesterday instead.

One of my favorite things… the end of the day when it’s quiet and spring storms.

A few plans for the rest of the week… working, Pampered Chef party, haircut, Dad arriving

Here is picture thought I am sharing…

This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best to rain on your parade.

A woman was at her hairdresser’s getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband.. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded, ” Rome ? Why would anyone want to go there? It’s crowded and dirty. You’re crazy to go to Rome . How are you getting there?”

“We’re taking Continental,” was the reply. “We got a great rate!”

“Continental?” exclaimed the hairdresser. “That’s a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they’re always late. Where are you staying in Rome ?”

“We’ll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome ‘s Tiber River called Teste.”

“Don’t go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks it’s gonna be something special and exclusive, but it’s really a dump.”

“We’re going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope.”

“That’s rich,” laughed the hairdresser. You and a million other people are trying to see him. He’ll look=2 0the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You’re going to need it.”

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome .

“It was wonderful,” explained the woman, “Not only were we on time in one of Continental’s brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class.. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28 year old steward who waited on me hand and foot.

The hotel was great! They’d just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it’s a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner’s suite at no extra charge!”

“Well,” muttered the hairdresser, “that’s all well and good, but I know you didn’t get to see the Pope.”

“Actually, we were quite lucky. As we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I’d be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me.”

“Oh, really! What’d he say?”

He said, “Who fucked up your hair?”

Yep, it’s FRIDAY!

  1. I feel like I had a very successful week at work.  I’m not sure why I feel that way but I do.  My billable time isn’t up, I don’t have any new clients, I didn’t do anything extraordinary, but I feel like it was a good week.  That’s nice. :)
  2. Tonight I’m going to a networking event.  I’m not really sure if I’m excited or not.  A group of VAs I meet with locally and I have a table at the event and I had to buy some stuff for it so I have a bit of $$$ invested in the event, I really hope it ends up being worth it.  We’ll see.
  3. The sun is finally shining.  It’s actually a little on the warm side.  I wouldn’t be complaining but I’ve been inside all week (working) and today I’m wearing “make me look smart” clothes so I feel warm.  But, I’m glad the sun is shining
  4. I planted everything on my front patio and the flowers look great.  I have a pink/white/purple theme  going on.  I LOVE it.  The back patio.  Well…
  5. Tomorrow is FARM CHICKS.  I’m excited but I don’t really know why I’m excited.  I just am.  I don’t even know if I’m going because the people I thought were going aren’t and I don’t want to go alone.  But, I guess my sister-in-law and her mom are going so I’ll go with them.
  6. I went to my first private art reception.  Woohoo.  Doesn’t that sound fancy?  One of my friends is an artist and his show started last night, I got an invitation to the private reception so I went.  It was kind of fun.  That gallery (sort of) redeemed itself to me.  I’ll still need to monitor if I’m taking my niece but it was approved for this show.
  7. My assistant rocks.  Did I tell you I hired an assistant?  Well, I did.  She rocks.  I was so scatterbrained today trying to figure tonight out.  She kept me on track and even went and bought the things I needed but forgot to order.  So, yeah, she pretty  much rocks.
  8. I have become a Farm Town addict.  I know, what’s Farm Town, right?  It’s a stupid game on Facebook.  I’m ADDICTED.  Well, the complete addiction is over, I have now obtained a high enough level in the game that I’m able ot plant crops that take longer to harvest so I don’t have to be on there EVERY day.  Plus, I get to play with my sister in CA so it’s cool.  We’ve talked more in the last couple weeks because of this game than we’ve talked in the last year I think.  So, I’m happy.
  9. A very good family friend died this week.  I’ve known them since I was born, I think.  His wife and my mom are the closest of friends.  It was not a fun call that I got on Saturday and Monday’s was worse.  Death sucks.
  10. My cat has officially become annoying.  First he gets himself stuck in the refrigerator for an hour.  Then he gets himself locked out of the house for who knows how long.  Then he gets himself locked in the closet overnight.  Not to mention the mini-blind issue.  Well, he latest trick, knocking the screen out of the window then getting annoyed with ME because he was on the front porch and couldn’t get in.  You’d think he’d learn.  Yeah, right.

OK…I’m off for a late lunch and some networking.  Wish me lots of good clients.  :)

Years ago, when it first started, I watched Gilmore Girls on TV.  Life started and I stopped watching the show, no reason it probably was on a night I couldn’t make.  Well, about a year ago I decided I wanted to watch it so I started getting the episodes from Blockbuster Online.  Well, last night I finished the final episode of the final season.

I know, not a big deal but I was excited.  :)

I’m not sure if it’s allergies that I’m getting (which I don’t usually have issues with) or if I’m getting a cold.  But, I feel kind of yucky.  I did check out the pollen index and it’s “Moderate” today.  Although the yellow covering every flat or not so flat surface tells me something different.

But, you have to look at Accuweather’s Indices page.  It’s pretty funny.  Not only does it tell you the pollen index but the frizz index, BBQ index, and dog walking index too, among others.

So, I’m going to go sniffle my way through the day.  Wish me luck.  Honestly, I’m not sure if I want it to be allergies or a cold.  Both are bad…just not sure which is worse.
