If you know me or have read my blog for any length of time you know that I am pretty passionate about organ donation. This evening I sat down in front of the television and Oprah was on with a story on organ donation. I caught the tail-end of it but with the marvels of DVR was able to record it and watch the full episode. The link to Oprah’s site does a pretty good job summarizing the show.
I hope it was inspirational to the parents of the first boy who died to see the impact their son had. Oprah had three people who received some of his organs on the show, but it sounds like more were actual recipients. She also had a family that heard this boys story and two week’s later a family member died and because of that story they donated his organs making an even bigger impact. It’s a big domino effect that’s very positive.
It’s been 7 1/2 months since my dad’s last transplant. 228 days of him being healthy! 228 days since my sister gave him the biggest gift a person can give someone. Both of them are doing great! I know I haven’t talked much about them since the surgery. In fact, my dad is coming up here in about two weeks to spend ten days with me.
