Besides the fact that the picture is bad (it was on my camera phone because I still haven’t bought a new camera ti replace my broken one).

Besides the fact that this was the weather a couple weeks ago.

Besides the fact that it’s 6:40PM and the outside temperature is triple digits.

Besides the fact that the outside temperature actually dropped 2 degrees in the time it took me to get the energy to get up and get my phone to take this picture.

No, what is really wrong with this picture is that my house has been closed up against the heat since 9AM with my (crappy) A/C running since early afternoon and the INDOOR temperature is 80.8 degrees.

Dude, that’s sucks.

Is it too early for me to start talking about moving to Barrow, AK? I think I need to win the lottery so I can have a summer home. I’m not picky…I’ll take either the green one (third row down) or, today, the fixer upper (fourth row). How cute would these neighbors be? I can’t even begin to tell you how good this looks right now.

Sigh…next time I complain about the heat remind me of this, please.

If you can’t find me I’m probably on a plane headed to the farthest North American City.

Assuming the pull in at noon (which is a reasonable assumption) it’s not long now before my company arrives.

Do you like sending flowers? I do! :) I found this company online that has very good prices on flowers. I sent my first bouquet to my mom for Mother’s Day and she loved them (who doesn’t love flowers).

When my Aunt’s birthday came along I sent her a bouquet.

She called that evening to thank me for the flowers and commented a few times on how beautiful they were. Of course that made me feel great! :) So, today I got an e-mail from this company with a gift certificate for a future purchase. I wasn’t quite sure why but thought: cool! I got an call from my Aunt a little bit ago and she said that she’d called the company because the iris’ never opened. She said the bouquet is beautiful, it was shipped very well (they ship DHL which was a little odd to me) but the iris’ didn’t open. Now, normally I wouldn’t be recommending a company after they sent flowers to someone that didn’t open BUT, she was so impressed with their customer service that I had to tell you about it. When she called a real, live person answered the phone (is it bad that this needs to be mentioned? I think so!). They immediately offered to send her a replacement bouquet but she asked that they send me a gift certificate instead which they did immediately. (Thus the gift certificate I received today.)

So, even with the non-blooming iris’ I still have to say this is a GREAT company. If you’re looking to send flowers to someone give deLaFlowers a look. I think you’ll be please. I know I have been! (Plus, that 15% off coupon code is good even if you’re not sending flowers to your dad. And, it looks like it’s still good — but if it doesn’t work ask me because I might have a newer one so you can still save 15%.)

Father's Day 08

Don’t worry, if you need a reason to send flowers to someone just ask me.  I’d be more than happy to give you my address.  I’ll always accept flowers.

There is something seriously WRONG with the world when THIS

is the weather forecast for June 10th in Idaho.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

with a Thai twist. So, I’ve been sitting here being lazy today and decided I’d make dinner. I was going to make Pad Thai but by the time I got to the kitchen I’d changed my mind and decided to make my Spicy Thai Peanut Stirfry (besides, I didn’t feel like looking for a Pad Thai sauce recipe and didn’t want to use jarred). I love, love, love this dish but was distracted cooking it and overcooked the noodles (timer DORK) and I made too many noodles which I added to the dish because I dumped without really paying attention to what I was doing (again DORK). But, it’s still yummy and hopefully you won’t goof it up like I did tonight.

Spicy Thai Peanut Stir-fry

Cook noodles according to package directions. I used Rice noodles,  but have also used angel hair pasta) Go very VERY easy on the amount of noodles you use. You’re not eating spaghetti…you’re eating the stir-fry. Often I skip the noodles all together.
Sauce:
1/3 Cup Natural Peanut Butter (I prefer Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter just DON’T use the processed stuff)
1/4 Cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
1/4 Cup Water
Chili Sauce (I like Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce)

Mix the Peanut Butter, Soy Sauce, and water until blended well.  Add the Chili Sauce a little bit at a time tasting after you add each time to determine how hot you want it.  Trust me, add a LITTLE at a time, a little goes a LONG way.  (Also, you can make this and keep it in the refrigerator for a short time — it makes it even easier if you want to make a quick lunch, not that this is hard.)

Stir-Fry
This is really up to you.  I use what I have.  So, use what you have or add what you want.  I like:

Chicken cut into bite size pieces
Broccoli Florets
Carrots (julienned or cut thing — I’m lazy, I usually cut thin rounds)

Other ideas that I’d add if I had them (maybe sometime I’ll plan for this and actually have the ingredients that I want to add):  onion, scallions, cabbage, celery, mushrooms, mung bean sprouts, shrimp.  Whatever, use your imagination

Stir-fry in minced garlic.  After you stir-fry add the sauce and heat thoroughly.  If  you are adding noodles then just add about half the sauce here then add the noodles, mix and add the rest of the sauce.

You could garnish with some crushed peanuts if you wanted.  Lime juice also tastes GREAT squeezed on top (although I rarely have limes so I never get to add it).

The big thing here is SKIMP on the noodles unless you just want a plate of noodles which I don’t like, personally.

I had the BEST day yesterday. Hung out with some friends in Spokane at the Farm Chick Show. Other than the mass of people (who were a little rude) it was a lot of fun. I bought some lavender plants that I potted this morning on my back patio. I’m not sure if I’ll keep them out back or move them to the front. I put them in a pot I had but I think they’d look REALLY cute in a tin bucket so I might transplant them when I find one.

Since I was on the back patio I took a few minutes to watch the girls playing softball, which I do quite often. I think they are having a tournament over there today. The girls are pretty good, not like a couple games I watched last week. LOL (Is that bad that I rate the softball games at the park across the street from my house?) Something happened at one point because an ambulance was there…unfortunately I didn’t see what happened and I’m so nosey that it was driving me crazy. I actually thought I needed to buy some binoculars or something so I could view the happenings at the park but then I realized I really would be crazy if I did that (although, it would be fun for looking at the hills to see if I could see wildlife which I’m too blind to see with my naked eye — or too dingy to look in the right spots…I haven’t figured out which). Plus, think of how much easier it would be to see the eagles in the winter if I had a good set of binoculars

Since I was looking at binoculars, I found a great site online that has them LOL, of course I got distracted and started looking at sunglasses. Because I only have like three pair. And, then I started looking at eyeglasses which reminded me that I need to go the the eye doctor to get my new contact lenses.

And then I realized I NEED A LIFE. I’m sitting at home on a Sunday afternoon on my laptop looking at eyeglasses online. How sad is that?  But, really, it’s just because I get distracted so easily.  What I was going to do was work on a writing schedule for my blogs and plan some time to start writing the book I’ve wanted to write for the past 10 (or more) years.  But, instead I think I’ll continue my laundry and grab my book again and read.

Ahh, Sunday afternoons….
