The Two Pots
By Author Unknown (thanks to Pam for submitting)

A Water Bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which he carried across his neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years, this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots of water to his house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. “I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes my water to leak out all the way back to your house.”

The bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, we would not have such beauty.”

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You’ve just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

Ever want to tell someone something but know that if you said the words nothing would be accomplished other than you getting mad, or hurt, because they didn’t “get it”? Ever want to hit someone over the head but know that they wouldn’t feel it because they’re too self absorbed to know someone else is even there?

Well, I’m going to unload. Deal with it. Don’t ask me what it means. I know but I can’t explain. It just means. That’s it. (And, for the record, this isn’t what I wanted to say….I’m keeping it nice.)

So…

Dreams of sharin’ a life and a home.
Dreams of never ever bein’ alone again. Dreams.
Not even diamonds, just a little gold.
Someone there to hold her hand when she gets old.
Dreams, the kind you know will never end.
Forever lovers and forever friends.
Someone really there, to love and care, and share, Dreams.

Because of you I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don’t get hurt
Because of you I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you I am afraid

What is the meaning of life?
I’ve asked myself so many times
Is there a reason I’m here?
I wish someone would make it clear
‘Cause I’m living from day to day, feeling so far away
Maybe I’m not as sane as I thought
Keeping my eyes on You is something I’ve gotta do
Even when I don’t feel like it

You tell me you’re not the type
The kind of girl that they like
And your a little insecure about
How you look in their eyes.
Well fashion will change,
Trends come and go everyday,
But God only made one of you and
There’s nothing about you that’s plain

I won’t give up, I won’t give in
I’m ready for my life to start again
I won’t back down, I’ll stand my ground
The time is now to show the love I’ve found
I’ve got a reason to breathe, I’ve got the freedom to stand
The future is mine, I’ll give it all I can
To break down the walls that hold me in
It’s my reason to live

Till later…

and for the record…you suck, OK, even if you don’t know who you are

I don’t have to!

I don’t like you any more!

I’m not going to play with you ever again!

You can’t make me be your friend!

I’m going to tell my mom on you!

I don’t care if you help me to my car!

I just had my second meeting with my friend the sidewalk.  I don’t like him anymore and I think I’m going to end that friendship.

Will someone please tell him to move the ice away from the bottom of my stairs.  I don’t like it there.

Who knew walking across an inch plus thick sheet of ice would be so difficult.  I guess my elbow, hip, and neck do now.  Not to mention my head which came in contact with the bag of books that was in my hand shortly after the point of impact.

Don’t ask me how I’m doing tomorrow.  I might be on drugs.  Assuming I can move.

Till later…

So, we had about 9 inches of snow in the past 24 hours (seriously I think we got more but that’s what they are saying). We’re supposed to get more as the week progresses.

So, since it’s been advised that I stay off the road (works for me) I decided to watch some TV. The highlights of the past two days:

I can’t remember which one I have but I love these guys….no matter how many times I watch them I’m cracking up. They were my favorite.

Until tonight. OMG, I’m going to pee my pants. I have a new favorite….this will NOT get deleted off my DVR. I highly recommend. HIGHLY.

Till later…

Have you ever wondered what 10 degrees feels like? I would be lying if I told you I have. But, since I know I’ll share with those of you who have been dying to know.

  • At 10 degrees your automatic windows on your car won’t roll down.
  • At 10 degrees sliding glass doors don’t always open.
  • At 10 degrees the muscles in your neck and shoulders have a tendency to tighten up in their attempt to keep your body warm.
  • At 10 degrees if you forget a pot of boiling water on the stove it turns to dew on your windows.
  • At 10 degrees it takes a REALLY long time for the heater in your car to actually spew warmth.
  • At 10 degrees if you forget your gloves the tips of your fingers hurt.
  • At 10 degrees walking across a parking lot is a dangerous feat.
  • Don’t even ask me what it’s like getting out of your car in 10 degrees. Fine you want to know…hold on to something because if you don’t have really good balance you’re going down.
  • At 10 degrees jackets are mandatory. It doesn’t matter if you’re “just running to then next building” trust me, you need to put on that jacket.
  • At 10 degrees scarfs and gloves are not optional. How do I know that? I forgot mine. You’d think my theory of having 10+ pairs of gloves so I always have a pair readily available would work. LOL Yeah right.
  • At 10 degrees you need to leave for your appointments early. Not late, early because it’s going to take you longer than usual.

Trust me when I say this. 10 degrees hurts. Am I complaining? No. I’m just telling you…be prepared for 10 degrees because if you leave the house when it’s 10 degree chances are it’s going to be colder when you get home.

In case you were wondering what I’m talking about…this is what I’m dealing with tonight.

I’m off to take a hot bath to defrost my toes before crawling under my four blankets for a good night’s sleep.

Till later…
