Winter’s coming, the chill is in the air, I can feel it. So, now I’m concerned/confused as to how I’ll stay warm. So, I need some help, please.
Before moving to Idaho I didn’t even know what a baseboard heater was. My brother’s house has baseboard heaters in a couple of the rooms in the basement but he also has central heat. I ran the baseboard heaters twice last year both times it was below 0 outside and I ran the heater for a few minutes to take the chill off my room.
However, in my apartment the only heat source I have are baseboard heaters. Which isn’t really a problem…well, it isn’t a problem in the bathrooms (I guess those aren’t baseboard but ceiling heaters) and in my office. However, in my bedroom the only wall I can put my dresser on is the wall with the heater. In the living room and dining room there are two heaters but one controller. The only place I can put my couch is in front of the heater in the living room.
Now, I understand that quite a bit of heat comes out of those things…trust me I’ve stood in front of them before. So common sense tells me I can’t run it with my couch and dresser in front of it. So, how do I heat this place? It’s been in the low 50s this week so I haven’t needed the heat…but soon we’ll be dropping and dropping and dropping. I really don’t want to be cold in my own house.
So, here’s where I’m coming to you for help. Everything I can find says to read your owners manual. Well, I don’t have an owners manual. There isn’t even anything on the units that tell me the brand or model so I can look online for the owners manual. Help me! What do I do? How am I going to stay warm this winter? Obviously I don’t want to catch my couch on fire, but I also don’t want to freeze my bum off. Moving the couch somewhere else in the room isn’t an option. I can move it away from the wall, but how far? The room isn’t very big so I don’t have a lot of room to move it away from the wall, however.
Any suggestions?
Till later…
