One of my favorite Bible passages is:
Isaiah 40:31: But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
My sister-in-law is very ready to have her baby. Not only is she ready, but the baby seems to be getting ready for his birth into this world. So, we went downtown today to walk a bit and have lunch then we drove around the lake to see if the eagles had arrived. They had.
We pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car to watch. Eagles are AMAZING creatures. They are massively huge yet they glide through the air like they were created to be there. There were at least five eagles playing, yes, playing overhead and in the trees. We saw one glide across the sky in front of us, come to a stop midair then reverse a bit and swoop down to catch a fish. I can not even describe in words the wonder of seeing an eagle catch it’s prey mid-flight. It’s AMAZING!!!
Then his friends, or enemies, who knows which chased him around trying to steal that fish from him. Unfortunately the guy dropped it a while later. But, we did see him (or one of his friends LOL) catch another one a little while later. And, let me tell you, the fish he caught was a good 12 inches long. This massive bird picked that thing up like it was a twig.
The fun thing is, it isn’t even “eagle season” yet. That doesn’t come until the end of December. We’ll definitely be bringing the family out to see the eagles when they’re here. Next time I’ll bring my camera to take some pictures.
I am so glad my “job” allows me the opportunity to take off in the middle of the day to go eagle watching. Who cares that I’ll be working later tonight and even this weekend. I got to spend a couple hours eating lunch with my family and watching eagles soar.
Till later…
