So today is my nephews second day at work. I’m teaching him the ropes so he can take over for his daddy some day. Here he is in his “executive chair” in the office.

You know one of those days where you just feel “off” and the most ridiculous things seem funny to you? Well, I’m having one of those days. So let me share what I found absolutely hilarious today:

Taco Bell’s Border Sauce Packets:

“Scratch & Sniff: Gotcha”
“Tah Dah!” (I liked this one because my niece says this a lot — super cute)
“I’m just doing this between films”
“Thanks for rescuing me. Hot was getting on my nerves.” (OK, I’m lame but this one made me laugh out loud. LOL)
“At night, the sporks pick on me.”
“Can I drive?”
“I collect straws.”

Who comes up with these things?

Well, whoever you are THANKS! I needed a smile today.

My sister-in-law was supposed to be induced at 7AM this morning instead they left for the hospital at 1:45AM because she was in labor. At 10:20 this morning my newest, beautiful nephew was born. He weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. He’s absolutely beautiful (just ask his big sister…all she kept saying when she was holding him was “You’re so beautiful my buddy”).

To share, two of my favorite people. My niece Ally and her new baby brother Kyle.

Here’s a better picture of Kyle with his big sister giving him kisses.

So, today I did want I wanted to do twelve months ago today. Sleep. You see, it was exactly 52 weeks ago that my brother and I got out of bed at 4:00AM and started on our 1000 mile journey north. Him in front with his truck pulling the white trailer me in back driving my sister-in-law’s Expedition towing my car behind. 365 days ago I experienced my first silver trees. I drove through my first icy parking lot. I watched the outside temperature drop to single digits for, I think, the first time. I believe it was the first time that I drove across the California border (I’d been out of California but I was never the one behind the wheel before). Today I’m thinking about all that’s happened in the past year. I’m not where I thought I wanted to be 12 months ago, but I’m pretty darn happy with where I am. It’s been a long road but a pretty awesome one (even with the bumps).

So, here’s to a happy moving day anniversary!! I think I’m going to celebrate with a nap. LOL (OK, maybe not, but I’m not doing much today — I need a day off.)

One of my favorite Bible passages is:

Isaiah 40:31: But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

My sister-in-law is very ready to have her baby. Not only is she ready, but the baby seems to be getting ready for his birth into this world. So, we went downtown today to walk a bit and have lunch then we drove around the lake to see if the eagles had arrived. They had.

We pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car to watch. Eagles are AMAZING creatures. They are massively huge yet they glide through the air like they were created to be there. There were at least five eagles playing, yes, playing overhead and in the trees. We saw one glide across the sky in front of us, come to a stop midair then reverse a bit and swoop down to catch a fish. I can not even describe in words the wonder of seeing an eagle catch it’s prey mid-flight. It’s AMAZING!!!

Then his friends, or enemies, who knows which chased him around trying to steal that fish from him. Unfortunately the guy dropped it a while later. But, we did see him (or one of his friends LOL) catch another one a little while later. And, let me tell you, the fish he caught was a good 12 inches long. This massive bird picked that thing up like it was a twig.

The fun thing is, it isn’t even “eagle season” yet. That doesn’t come until the end of December. We’ll definitely be bringing the family out to see the eagles when they’re here. Next time I’ll bring my camera to take some pictures.

I am so glad my “job” allows me the opportunity to take off in the middle of the day to go eagle watching. Who cares that I’ll be working later tonight and even this weekend. I got to spend a couple hours eating lunch with my family and watching eagles soar.

We went yesterday to cut down the Christmas tree. It was cold. But, my sister-in-law found the one she liked eventually…after we walked all over that darn farm. Then we stopped at a little store so my niece could see Santa and we got some fresh Apple Cider and fudge — well, I got fudge everyone else got an apple turn-over.

On the way home we stopped so my brother and sister-in-law could look at a new trailer. It was cold so I said I’d go inside with my niece and sit so we’d be warm. She was asleep so I had to carry her out of the truck and as I stepped out my foot just kept on sliding on the ice rink they called a parking lot. I hit my head pretty hard on the truck and landed flat on my big butt (for once I’m pretty glad it’s extra padded). My niece was fine…in fact, I think she slept through it until I quietly called for my sister-in-law to come help me. She’s pregnant so when my brother couldn’t see me he came running only to almost fall on top of us when he started to slip. Luckily he actually had hands to catch himself from falling but I said something and that woke up my niece.

So, here I am today…hurting like I’ve been hit by a truck, which I guess I was.
