OK, so, maybe it doesn’t actually suck but it’s definitely NOT my friend today. Here’s the deal. I work virtually. That’s no secret. That means I work from my little office at home doing work — mostly bookkeeping for companies across the country. I have clients in many states. The majority of them I access via the internet. Sometimes it’s slow, but for the most part it works out really well. Everyone — my clients in California, Texas, etc can access the same files/documents that I access here in Idaho. It works out really well. Until today.

Now, let me tell you how today was supposed to go. I had planned on getting up and working on entering some invoices for a client so they would be able to cut their A/P checks by noon their time…which meant I had to be done by 10AM. No problem. I also had a rather large bank account to reconcile for three months. And, one of my manufacturing client’s year end is tomorrow so I needed to assist them (again, virtually) print out all their year-end reports that can’t be printed after the fact. Now, that may seem like a lot, but it’s all a normal days work.

But then I woke up. sigh I was working along just fine entering those invoices when all of a sudden nothing. Yeah, that’s right, my virtual desktop went blank. I tapped, I refreshed and nothing. I reset my modem. Nothing. I called my client and informed them of the problem honestly thinking I’d step away from my desk for a little bit and come back with everything OK. Nope, not the case today. I called my lovely ISP and get the recorded “we know there’s something wrong with our service we’re working on it” message. Great!

So, I start to panic. I take great pride in meeting my deadlines. I admit sometimes deadlines have to be changed but sometimes they can’t. Today they couldn’t. Luckily my sister-in-law reminded me of a new coffee cafe in town that has WIFI so I called them to make sure they aren’t using the same ISP I use and I was in luck. So, off I go to the coffee cafe.

On the way I realized that with all this work I needed to suck it up and purchase the 10-key and wireless mouse I’ve been needing to get for my laptop. So, I make a mad dash to Office Depot and purchase a sweet wireless 10-key and mouse. Then head to the coffee cafe for a day of work.

I arrive, purchase my lunch (cause if I’m going to have to work here I might as well indulge in the perk of eating lunch and a yummy coffee, right) then set-up my “desk”. Everything’s set-up but the stinking laptop is freaking out on my. Can you believe it? I was going mad. Finally I realized it was just downloading updates and stuff and it was ready to go. Only one problem. Remember that swee wireless 10-key and mouse? They don’t work!!!! Seriously, I can’t get the USB to accept the receiver.

Well, here it is five hours later. The wireless stuff is crap but I was able to accomplish my work. I only threatened the computer with being thrown out the window about five times. Three coffees and a yummy lunch later I think I’m ready to go. Only I’m afraid to leave because at home I have no internet awaiting me. sigh I guess I’ll have to find a hobby or something. But, this sucks. I had seriously planned on working all weekend. I have things I need to do. Oh well, I guess I’ll find something fun to do this weekend. Who knows what that will be.

Till later….either from a fixed ISP at home or from another visit to Kootenai Coffee.

Bear with me, the picture is bad. But, I caught the bridal bouquet at the wedding I went to this weekend. :) So, we’ll see how true they really are. LOL

Anyway, I had a ton of fun this weekend. Spent some time with great friends, got to meet new friends, and had fun seeing Seattle. It was my first trip to Seattle — I’ve been in the airport a few times but never actually visited.

Friday we drove around then got ready for the bachelorette party downtown. A limo picked us up and drove us to Seattle to the Can Can kitchen and cabaret in Pike Place Market. I got to see the Space Needle and other downtown stuff. Unfortunately, most of that was from the back of the limo and was hard to see…so I kindly stuck my head up front to get a better view. I’m loads of fun when I go out!!! Just ask any of my friends — old or new. LOL

Saturday I hung out at Tara’s and helped her daughter get ready to meet her “new grandparents”. We had a great BBQ. I even got to shuck corn in a goat pen. Seriously, I SHUCKED CORN IN A GOAT PEN. LOL I even became lovely friends with the four goats in said pen. Now, the chickens…sorry, didn’t make great friends with them I’m sorry to say.

Sunday was the wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. Loads of fun. I came home on Monday and now it’s back to work. <> But, such is life, right.

So, wish me luck on my groom hunt LOL (totally just kidding…but it’s a fun thought).

My realtor was in town this week to help Brian with a job. Well, it rained so he couldn’t paint so we went to look at a couple of houses. After the first few I was so dang frustrated that I wanted to cry. Not to mention that my headache was increasing with each minute. I didn’t realize it when we left, but the pressure change that the storm brought affected my sinuses and I was in PAIN. :( So, we looked at a few houses and I was ready to call it quits and just move into a tent in the forest because theses houses were C-R-A-P.

Seriously, the floors on these houses looked like a roller coaster ride with all the bumps and slopes. But, we decided to drive by all the houses on my list before we headed home. The last house we were just going to drive by but when we got there decided to take a look inside anyway. (I wasn’t too excited about the outside but we were there so…) Well, the inside was actually the nicest of all the houses we looked at. It’s three bedrooms with one bathroom. One of the bedrooms is really small but would make a great office leaving the second bedroom for a craft/guest room. I’m not sure if this is the house for me, but at least I came home with some hope.

Unfortunately, by the time I got home my head was hurting so stinking bad that all I could do was lay down. I took some sinus stuff and some Aleve and slept for a while. The pressure is still there but at least I don’t feel like I’m going to die any more.

It looks like this house hunt thing is going to be interesting. But, I have time, I’ll just take it one day at a time. I’m convinced God has the perfect house out there for me. I just need to be patient and wait for him to present it to me.

So, I met with the mortgage broker today…I’m going on a house hunt! :) I talked briefly with my realtor this weekend. He’ll be in town this week so we’ll talk more about my/our strategy and go from there. The market is PRIME for me to buy right now. :) This are going to be GREAT. I feel so comfortable about this. I’m so excited.

And you wonder why I live in (and love) Idaho. Took this on the way home from some friend’s house this evening on my camera phone while driving over the bridge but still…I LOVE IDAHO!

I tell you, I’ve been sitting at this desk all stinking day. Does it look (or feel) like I’ve accomplished ANYTHING? No. Why is that? This really kind of stinks. But, that’s the way it works sometimes I guess.

So, I did make my appointment with the mortgage broker. I’ll be seeing her on Monday at 3PM. Finished filling out the application and have all my stuff ready to meet with her. EEK. :)

I had to run to Fred Meyer today so I walked around the housewares department to jog my memory on what I’ll need in order to move. See, when I moved last time (five years ago) I packed most of my stuff but some was given away. (Like my pans that my PSYCHO roommate ruined.) Plus there’s some stuff I just want. :) It was fun/exciting to look through that department and know I’ll be able to buy that stuff for myself really soon.
