I’m an Idahoan. LOL I know…I got here three weeks ago, I became a citizen then. But, I got my drivers license today. So I feel official now. :) I had been putting it off because it meant it was real…I had really relocated. I’m excited about it, but it still was final. But, today I decided I was ready so I finished work and headed off to the DMV. I needed to start the paperwork to have the title for my car transferred also so I was going to go take my written test then drive to Post Falls to get the form to have the title changed. But, when I walked into the drivers licensing office I realized there was a vehicle licensing office across the hall…so I checked it out (they weren’t on the website). Sure enough they helped me complete all the paperwork to request the transfer of title for my car, Brian’s and Faye’s also. Man, the people here are sure nice. :) Then I headed over to the licensing office.

I had called a head and they take the last tester at 4:30. I got to the office at about 4:15 (EEK) and got my number. I was 02 and they were at 98…so I thought I might be OK. And I watched the minutes click by. Finally at about 4:29 and 59 seconds they called my number. I was concerned with proving my residency since I don’t have anything official with my address on it but they took my printed checks as proof enough for them. :) We processed my information (so different from CA…so much less institutionalized) and I waited for them to call me over to take th test.

Now, I haven’t taken a written drivers test in about 16 years. I wasn’t afraid but I wasn’t overly confident. I knew there was a possibility that I might fail but I was pretty sure I’d do well enough to pass. So, I took the test (and actually laughed at a few of the questions they were so ridiculous) and turned it in. The lady called me over a few minutes later and announced very LOUDLY that I had a PERFECT SCORE! I was shocked…I was expecting passing and was hoping she’d let me see which ones I got wrong but I never expected PERFECT. Needless to say I was proud. So, I had a seat while I waited to get the next set of forms. When that lady called me up the lady who scored my test remarked “Oh, you can just call her Miss Perfect Score”. :) It was kind of nice. So, I paid and went to get my picture taken.

That’s when it got a little, uh, interesting. LOL I was waiting for my turn to get my photo taken and in walked three armed police officers. I didn’t think anything at first because I was at the sheriffs office. But, then I noticed them talking with the man that had been sitting next to me. They were asking him some questions and he wasn’t too happy. He was getting arrested. I got a little nervous because it was obvious (duh) that he wasn’t happy about the circumstances but I was relieved to see him comply without too much fuss. Then I overheard one of the officers ask “where the other guy was”. OMG, they were doing it AGAIN!! So, they ended up arresting two people that were in the DMV at the same time as me with outstanding warrants. Luckily both went with them nicely (and luckily I was on the opposite side of the office/counter when it happened). I did mention to Brian and Faye that I’d babysit when they go get their licenses. LOL

So, I’m officially an Idaho resident. :) I have am licensed until 2014. My title has been requested and they will call when it comes in…supposedly in about a week, then I’ll have official Idaho license plate.

I went to my Bible study tonight. Got to meet the people in my discussion group. They all seem to be about my age but they’re all married. I’m trusting that God put me in the right place so that’s OK. They did seem nice. So, we’ll see. :)

Till later…
